Privacy Policy

Venu ("the App") is developed and operated by Salt Life Tech ("we," "us," or "our"). We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about how our App works. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Location Data

The App requests access to your device's location while the App is in use ("When In Use" / foreground only). We use your location solely to:

• Calculate distances between you and nearby bars
• Sort results by proximity
• Provide navigation directions to venues

Your location data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. We do not request background location access.

1.2 Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device using on-device storage (AsyncStorage). This data never leaves your device:

• Favorite bars you have saved
• Check-in history (bar names and timestamps)
• Bar crawl plans you have created, including draft, saved, active, and completed crawls
• Achievements you have unlocked
• App preferences such as theme, distance unit, and selected city
• Custom sort order for your favorites

1.3 Bar Directory Data

The App fetches publicly available bar and happy hour information from our content database to display to you. This is a one-way data transfer; no personal information is sent from your device during this process.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We want to be clear about what we do not do:

• We do not create user accounts or require registration of any kind
• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifiers
• We do not track your behavior, in-app activity, or browsing patterns
• We do not use analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or tracking libraries
• We do not display advertisements or use advertising identifiers (IDFA)
• We do not sell, share, rent, or transmit any of your data to third parties
• We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or fingerprinting data
• We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or any other device sensors beyond location
• We do not use cross-app or cross-site tracking

3. Apple App Store

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple Inc. operates the App Store platform under their own Privacy Policy. When you download the App, Apple may collect certain data as described in their policy. We have no control over and no access to any data collected by Apple through the App Store.

Apple is not responsible for the App, its content, or this Privacy Policy. This policy solely governs Salt Life Tech's practices.

4. How We Use Your Information

The limited data described above is used exclusively to provide the core functionality of the App:

• Location data: to show distance to bars and enable navigation
• On-device data: to remember your favorites, check-ins, crawls, achievements, and preferences between sessions
• Bar directory data: to display up-to-date happy hour information

5. Data Storage and Security

All personal data (favorites, check-ins, crawls, achievements, preferences) is stored exclusively on your device using the operating system's built-in local storage. We have no access to this data. Your data is protected by your device's own security measures including encryption, passcode, and biometric locks.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times:

• Use the "Clear Check-ins," "Clear Favorites," or "Clear Crawls" options in Settings to delete specific data categories
• Use "Reset All Data" in Settings to erase all App data at once
• Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all stored data

We do not retain any data on our servers because we never receive it in the first place.

7. Third-Party Services

The App interacts with the following third-party services:

• Apple Maps / Google Maps: When you tap "Navigate" or "Directions," the App opens your device's default maps application. That provider's own privacy policy governs that interaction.
• Expo (React Native framework): Used to build and distribute the App. Production builds of Expo do not collect personal user data by default. No Expo analytics or tracking services are enabled.
• Cloudflare Workers: Our bar directory API is hosted on Cloudflare's infrastructure. API requests contain no personally identifiable information. Cloudflare may log anonymized request metadata per their Privacy Policy.

We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, social media, or crash-reporting SDKs.

8. In-App Purchases

The App does not offer, require, or process any in-app purchases. The App is entirely free with no paid features, subscriptions, or premium tiers.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children. The App provides information about establishments that serve alcohol and is intended only for users who are of legal drinking age (21 years or older in the United States). We do not knowingly collect any information from persons under the age of 21. If you believe a minor has accessed the App, please contact us at venu@saltlifetech.com.

10. Your Rights

Because we do not collect, store, or process personal data on our servers, traditional data rights requests (access, correction, deletion, portability) are managed entirely by you through the App's Settings. You can view, modify, or delete all of your data at any time without contacting us.

If you are a resident of California (CCPA/CPRA), the European Economic Area (GDPR), or any other jurisdiction with data protection laws, please note:

• We do not sell personal information
• We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
• We do not process personal data beyond what is described in this policy
• We do not use tracking or profiling of any kind

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by updating the "Last Revised" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
